Screen recording
Record your Mac’s screen to MP4 or GIF.
Opaline records any area, window or the full screen at 60 fps. Add your voice, the computer’s audio, a webcam bubble and your keystrokes, then stop from the menu bar.
Record in three steps
- Press ⇧⌘D, or open All-In-One with ⇧⌘1.
- Drag over the area you want, or pick a window or the full screen.
- Click Record. When you’re done, click stop in the menu bar.
The recording lands in a Quick Access thumbnail in the corner of your screen. Drag it straight into Slack, Mail or a pull request, or save it.
MP4 for sharing, GIF for docs
Choose crisp H.264 MP4 at Retina resolution for walkthroughs and demos, or a looping GIF for READMEs, bug reports and chat, where a video won’t autoplay.
Sound, face and keys
- Microphone and system audio, recorded in sync.
- Webcam bubble so people can see who’s talking.
- Click highlights so viewers can follow the cursor.
- On-screen keystrokes, so shortcuts in a tutorial are never a mystery.
Opaline vs. the built-in recorder
macOS can record the screen with ⇧⌘5, but it saves .mov files only. It can’t make a GIF, add a webcam bubble or show your keystrokes. Opaline does all three, and leaves ⇧⌘5 working as before.
