Text recognition
Copy text from anything on your Mac’s screen.
Press a shortcut, drag over the text, and it’s on your clipboard. Opaline reads text in images, videos, scanned PDFs and apps that won’t let you select it.
How to copy text from an image
- Press ⇧⌘2.
- Drag over the text you want.
- Paste it anywhere with ⌘V.
Already took a screenshot? Hover its Quick Access thumbnail and click the text button, or click Text in the editor.
Works where selecting doesn’t
- Frames of a video or a screen share.
- Scanned PDFs and photos of documents.
- Error messages and dialogs you can’t select.
- Apps and websites that block copying.
- QR codes: Opaline copies the link or text inside.
Private by design
Text recognition runs entirely on your Mac using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Nothing is uploaded, and it works with no internet connection.
What about Live Text?
macOS Live Text lets you select text in photos in apps like Photos, Preview and Safari. Opaline works on anything on your screen, in any app, with one shortcut.
